Wendell is a native of Stanly County and a career law enforcement veteran serving the span of 30 years with the City of Concord and the City of Albemarle. He is a graduate of West Stanly High School and received his Associate in Applied Science Criminal Justice Degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College in 1997. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer University, Misenheimer, N.C. in 2000. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Training and Standards Commission, a 2005 graduate of the FBI National Academy Session #222 in Quantico, Virginia, and recipient of the prestigious Robert J. Eury Law Enforcement Memorial Officer of the Year Award in 2015.
Wendell has been married to his wife Vickie, a Kannapolis native for nearly 30 years and they have two children, Amanda and Brandon, who are Concord High School graduates, He is tremendously proud of his family and enjoys family activities like traveling and being outdoors. He is a member of Central Baptist Kannapolis and serves as the security director and sings in the church choir. He loves playing golf and going to the beach.
